Loneverse - a Wikivella

Welcome to Loneverse

This site was inspired by the NaNoWriMo challenge of 2007. I had the urge to write stories, and this site is the result. Obviously, there is not much here now, but check back in a few months.

Please note that although this site uses MediaWiki software like Wikipedia, it's not a true Wiki. It is a closed system where I can share my ideas rather than an open contribution knowledge base. Read the Wikivella page to know more about what's going on.

I think that I have a tendency to want to build the world and then figure out the story that occurs within it. It means that I'll be spending more of the initial time setting up conditions and parameters and then start actually writing the stories proper. I will probably end up spending a fair amount of time over the first month or two working out what Loneverse will have and what it won't before I start writing the 'real' stories that will be here, but I'll have them up as they are completed (or even whilst they are in progress!).

You can see some of my early work on Way of the Lone Road. There I (and a few friends) tried to write some stories in a collaborative fashion. It was a good idea, but needed improvement. And it didn't work very well in the context of a forum.

I'm hoping that by doing this here, on a Wiki, it'll be much easier to use and if any members of that forum wished to participate here, they'd be more than welcome.

If you have any comments, feel free to send me an email - admin at movingbricks dot com or you can register on Way of the Lone Road. Most of the stories will have a link to the forum.

Main Index

A good place to start is from the Timeline page. This will be one of the central points of interest for the reader as it will give perspective and provide links to many pages. During the early days of this site, there will be a link to All Articles in the menu on the left. This will allow the reader to look at various pages as they wish.

For those that don't already know, blue words are links to another page that will have additional information on it. Red words are links to pages that do not yet exist. However, unlike a regular Wiki, on this site you will get an error message, so don't bother clicking on red words. They are just there as reminders to me on something that I want to add later.

Stories are listed by inverse order of addition, so the newer stories are at the top.

  • Ascension (21st Jan 2008 - 1,300) - When it comes down to it, retirement is normally a somber time. Normally.
  • Viewmount (7th Jan 2008 - 1,540) - Kirk and Raymond have the fun task of starting up a Starship.

The first story

Search for Leshem (5th Dec, 2007 - 50,000), the NaNoWriMo project that started it all. This story is not canon for the Loneverse Mythos, even though many of the elements will seem familiar. It is a precursor and is added to this site as a mirror for the main story on my site.
